Easiest Outfield Position

In the Cubs Mailbag today, a reader asked the question “which outfield position is easiest,” and said that she thought center field the easiest of the three. I agree with this, but not by any of the reasoning put forth by the reader or Reed Johnson, who, in part, answered the question.

Baseball begins again

I’m playing ball again, and we’re already three games into the season. Our team is what you might call Bush League, but it’s a lot of fun anyway, and for a team mostly comprised of guys who haven’t seen a pitch in a year or two, we’re not that bad. We did win our first game, but we’ve lost the past two by fairly large margins. It doesn’t help that one of the other teams was stacked with guys from the Home Talent League.

Some days it rains

Last summer was crucially different than all summers I can remember in that I didn’t play an inning of baseball. And, well, I try to not repeat my mistakes, so this summer I’m playing in the MSCR city league one or two nights a week with some folks with whom I played in high school/little league. Our team name is ‘Raowness,’ which stems from the word ‘raow’ which is apparently being petitioned for entry into the Dictionary.
